Girls Junior Varsity Soccer vs. Hopkins HS School

Game Date
Apr 8, 2019
Score
: 7
HOPKINS HIGH SCHOOL: 0

In their first home game at the Falcon Soccer Complex, the Junior Varsity team came out swinging and did not back down.  Facing off against non-conference opponent Hopkins, the Falcons were led early on by Rehema Sango, opening the scoring early off a pass from Lauren Butterfield.  With the early 1-0 lead in hand, the Falcons continued to press into the opposing third, again, Butterfield collected the ball in midfield, finding Samantha Van Huizen on the switch, who floated the ball over the goalkeepers head for her first goal of the season.  Samantha was not done, as she found Rehema Sango minutes later, who scored her second of the night.  The Falcons pressed continually, not without defensive effort however.  The Vikings were able to break through on the counter attack, but each attempt was dealt with by the back line, or stonewalled by goalkeeper Hadley Detter, who earned her second clean sheet of the season. Before half, Rehema was able to net her third of the game, with the assist coming, yet again, from Lauren Butterfield.  To close the scoring in the first half, Lauren Butterfield took advantage of a bouncing ball served through by Reagan Buhlman, and put her name in the scoring column to bring the first half score to 5-0 in favor of the Falcons.

In the second half, the opportunities for the falcons didn't slow down, and Reagan Buhlman slotted a ball to the far post after a cross from Butterfield.  As the falcons took on the Hopkins defense, Kristen Maycroft was able to find the net one more time with a blast from 30 yards that dropped over the keepers head and into the back of the net.  The final score of the game favored the Falcons 7-0.  The entire team was involved in the creation of the opportunities that gave the falcons the advantage, and they look to continue their current run of form on Thursday against Wayland Union High School.
