BLACK RIVER PUBLIC SCHOOL: 0
The Falcons go into spring break with a win, after defeating Black River High School 2-0 last evening. Allendale pressed Black River's defense from the outset, bearing down on the goal several times, but being unable to find the target. Moving the ball to the wings gave the Falcons space to work, and with twelve and a half minutes remaining in the first half, Midfielder Rylie Kramer took a ball in stride, and cut into the attacking area. The Black River goalkeeper was unable to gain control of Kramer's shot, and the ball bounced back in front, to a crashing Kennadi Fuller. Fuller was able to slot the ball on the near side, earning her second goal of the season. The half ended with a couple of more chances, but nothing that bothered the Black River defense.
Early in the second half, Allendale found themselves on the attack again. Again from space on the outside, Lydia Sall broke into the corner. Unable to find the direct cross into the box, Lydia dumped the ball back up top to a waiting Kayla Matz. Matz took a settling touch, and slammed the shot home from 23 yards. The goalkeeper was able to get fingers on it, but not enough to deflect the shot away as the Falcons took a 2-0 lead. Following the second goal, Black River began to push harder, and took opportunities to bring the ball into the Falcon's defensive half. Each time, the stout back line under the leadership of Cami Westerling turned back the attack, and only allowed two shots on goal for the evening, both of which GK Morgan Carlson saved with ease.
The Falcons head into spring break next week, and face Hopkins on the first Monday back. Game is at the Falcon Soccer Complex, at 5:45pm.
